Rustaffect is an original hard rock band hailing from Manchester New Hampshire USA. The band was formed in early February 2011, with Bob Bass on bass guitar and lead vocals, Sean Blaine on guitar and backing vocals, and Pete Auditore on drums.
In late 2010, Bob Bass was working with another original band project that rehearsed across the hallway from Sean and Pete’s rehearsal space. At that time, Bob Bass had several songs written and was trying to work out these songs with the other band. At this time, Bob felt that the current band he was working with was not going in the direction or making the progress he was looking for. Sean and Pete would frequently visit and social with Bob and his former band. Bob would also visit with Sean and Pete while they rehearsed. After a while, Bob started to think that maybe he should be working with Sean and Pete instead. They were more of his style of music. Sean and Pete would also occasionally make subtle hints to Bob to join them to create a new band. So in early February 2011 Bob, Pete, and Sean decided to get together for a jam session to see what they could do. It didn’t take long for the music to flow. They talked about a possible new band plan, and hence the band “Rustaffect” was born.
With this line up, Rustaffect performed their first live show on July 16th, 2011. Several people attended the show and it was a success! You can view live videos of the show on YouTube, Myspace, Facebook and Reverbnation. While on a really low budget, the band decided to self-record their first nine songs with GarageBand, a Mac computer, and several microphones, within their own practice space. The band was pleased with the results. Listen to the recordings for yourself, let us know what you think.
More about the band, Sean was inspired by Kurt Cobian of Nirvana and Dimebag Darrel of Pantera. He plays Dean guitars and Randall amps with Carvin cabinets. Pete was inspired by the band Six Feet Under, Vinnie Paul of Pantera and the earlier days of Metallica with Lars Ulrich. He likes to play his DDrum set with zildjian cymbals. Bob was inspired by Peter Steele of Type-O-Negative, Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath, Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue and the earlier days of Metallica with Cliff Burton. He likes to play Warwick and Ibenez bass guitars through Ampeg amps and Ampeg bass cabinets.
